InterContinental Bali Resort, Bali, Indonesia

A well-aged Balinese masterpiece

InterContinental Bali Resort, Indonesia, might not be the newest resort on this stretch of the island; it is true that it may lack the slick-modern interiors as the newer kids on the block. However, Intercontinental Jimbaran bay Bali ticks all the checkboxes,  possessing that elegance and old-world charm which is the very hallmark of an Intercontinental property – a well-aged masterpiece in every way.

Service levels at this resort rank as beyond perfect; with their entire team going above and beyond our every request. This is quite possibly the most polished hotel in Bali.

The Resort

Designed in a modern victorian style with balinese tropical sensibilities in mind, the sprawling resort has multiple restaurants, relaxation zones and enough spa amenities to satisfy even the most demanding luxury traveler – A very well equipped to be a world -leading 5-star resort.

The compound is split into a few wings, each containing different facets of the resort and also contains pools and restaurants of their own. One can very easily spend an entire day, taking relaxing strolls throughout the entire compound, only stopping to feed the ducks and fishes at one of the many ponds or for an exquisite meal at one of their impeccable restaurants.

The compound also hosts Jimbaran gardens a quaint outdoor restaurant which features small spice market which is competitively priced a superb choice for picking up gifts and culinary magic. And this also means you might never actually need to leave the hotel during your entire stay!

Club guests are treated to exclusive access to the club wing, where a private pool and exclusive meditation gazebos are well placed across this private access zone. However, it is in the club lounge where guests have access to a sprawl of pampering experiences.

A bespoke breakfast with a-la-cate style menu offerings, afternoon high-tea with petite canapés and, what seems like a never-ending cocktail hour where club guests can order free flow cocktails and alcoholic beverages and any one of their restaurants and bars. Including the sunset beach bar & grill.

The Room

in-line with the rest of the hotel, the rooms were charming with small Balinese touches which gave the space extra character. While not very modern, the rooms exude old-world luxury and it had amenities to match! The provided harnn spa toiletries and bath robes were particularly luxurious.

Food & drink

Lunch and dinner are the meal times which really shine at this resort. Breakfast is standard fare with a few Balinese specialities thrown in for good measure. That said most IHG hotels provide a good but not spectacular breakfast with nothing to shout about.

What does set this Balinese resort apart from their sister properties is the sheer diversity of restaurants which leaves one spoiled for choice.

The main restaurant serves up a delectable array of local specialities, from whole roasted piglets to crispy duck and freshly grilled sates. All this is served amidst live performances of traditional dance and plays right in the courtyard.

During sunset, the aptly named Sunset Beach Bar & Grill provides the best view for the evening sunset over Jimbaran bay;

you will be able to watch the sun dip below the horizon and the cascading waves of dimming orange hues reflected by the ocean waters.

If you’re looking for the best breakfast spread in Bali then you must check out Sofitel, Nusa Dua whose breakfast spread can rival even the most lavish buffet spreads.

The Experience

It is very hard to fault Intercontinental Jimbaran Bay, yes it may not be the newest hotel on the block and yes, the spa and some of the resort grounds might be a little dated. But when you look at the hotel as an entire package; this resort provides you with service at the finest level. Impeccable without any flaws at all.
