World’s Most Expensive Beluga Caviar – The Beluga Club Singapore

Did you know that Caviar is derived from the Persian word Khaviar? Which means “bearing eggs.” Fish roe from other species such as salmon, paddlefish, whitefish, and lumpfish must be labeled with the name of the fish in front of the word caviar. If the word caviar appears by itself on the label it must by law come from a sturgeon.

This year my birthday I get to eat Beluga sturgeon – Huso Huso caviar, native to the Caspian Sea basins, the Beluga is the largest sturgeon, which produces the largest and softest roe. Beluga is the world’s most expensive caviar. Rare “king of caviars” retains its crown as the most expensive you can buy, prized for its large grains and sumptuously soft texture. Aj Jami, a purveyor of these amazing Iranian Caviar under the brand The Beluga Club, he supplies mainly to high end restaurant and his circle of private clientele. I was one of the lucky few to have tried it and on top of that we added 24K gold foil just for the fun of it. Special Thanks to AJ from The Beluga Club.

I must say the flavors was buttery and creamy with enough hint of saltiness. For Huso-huso Sturgeons to produce these grand pearls , it takes 19 years for the first maturity for female and 12 Years for the male . Its subtle but distinctive flavors are described as buttery or creamy, with notes of hazelnut and almond. The color can be pale gray, steel or jet black. This Black diamond has been harvested from a very aged Huso Huso with a color grading of 000.

Beluga Caviar  obtained from the Beluga sturgeon (Huso huso), native to the Caspian Sea on north of Iran. The Beluga is the largest jurassic sturgeon, which produces the largest and softest roe. Hence Beluga dubbed the world’s most expensive caviar.
